Life & Disability Insurance
Peace of Mind for You and Your Loved Ones
At Sila, we understand that planning for the unexpected is an essential part of financial wellness. That’s why we offer life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance options designed to support you and your loved ones in times of need. Whether you are looking for basic coverage or want to explore voluntary plans for added peace of mind, our benefits are here to help safeguard your future.
Basic Life and AD&D
Sila provides, at no cost to you, basic life and AD&D insurance through Guardian. In the event of your death, our life insurance policy helps provide a general safety net for your beneficiaries. If you are a full-time employee, your coverage is $50,000. AD&D provides another layer of benefits to either you or your beneficiary if you suffer from loss of a limb, speech, sight, or hearing, or if you die in an accident.
If you are over the age of 65, benefits are reduced by 35%. If you are over the age of 70, benefits are reduced by 50%.
Voluntary Life and AD&D
You have the opportunity to purchase voluntary life and AD&D for yourself, your spouse, and/or your dependent children. Your cost for this coverage is based on the amount you elect and your age. You must purchase voluntary life and AD&D insurance for yourself in order to purchase spouse and/or dependent child(ren) coverage. Please note, if you did not enroll in this coverage when you were first eligible, you will be subject to medical underwriting.
You may purchase voluntary life insurance separately from each other.
- Voluntary life insurance pays out to beneficiaries regardless of the cause of death.
- Voluntary AD&D insurance covers death and injuries resulting from accidents, such as car crashes or workplace accidents, as well as the loss of a limb or other body parts, AD&D does not cover natural causes of death, such as illnesses or age-related complications.
Essential Beneficiary Information
All employees are automatically enrolled in Basic Life and AD&D, paid for by Sila Services.
Even if you do not plan on enrolling in additional benefits, you still need to log in to ADP to update your beneficiary.
This will ensure that the proper party receives the Life or AD&D benefit in the event payout is applicable.
If you do not update your beneficiary, you will not receive the benefit.

Your benefit may be reduced if you receive disability benefits from retirement, Social Security, workers’ compensation, state disability insurance, no-fault benefits, or return-to-work earnings. Refer to your certificate of coverage for more details.
