Eligibility
Eligibility
All elections made during enrollment will be effective January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. If you are a new hire, the enrollment window is open 30 days post-date of hire. Benefits become effective the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.
Eligible Employees
You may enroll in the benefits program if you are a regular full-time employee who is actively working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Dependents
When enrolling in benefits, employees may elect coverage for eligible dependents. Eligible dependents include:
Spouse: Someone legally married to the employee as defined by legal marriage certificate under state law recognizing such marriage.
Domestic Partner: Someone the employee has lived with for at least 6 months and are able to prove cohabitation with.*
Child: Employee’s child or legally adopted child, up to age 26, or a child up to age 26 of whom the employee is legal guardian.
Eligible Child: Dependent child to age 26 inclusive of: stepchild, domestic partner’s child, legal guardianship child, legally adopted/placed for adoption child, disabled dependent.
*If you plan to enroll your domestic partner, you will be required to submit a domestic partner affidavit.
Qualifying Life Events
In order to make a change outside of open enrollment, there must be a change in family status that satisfies HIPAA regulations, such as:
- Losing health coverage under another plan
- Losing dependent health coverage
- Marriage
- Divorce
- Birth
- Adoption
Supporting documentation must be submitted to the Sila HR team and insurance carriers within 30 days of the qualifying event.
At any time other than open enrollment, a qualifying life event is required to change your benefit elections. A qualifying event is a change in your personal life that may impact your eligibility or a dependent’s eligibility for benefits.
